On 15 December at 20.15, to mark the 100th anniversary of Simeon ten Holt's birth, piano duo Scholtes and Janssens will play the well-known Canto Ostinato at Het Cenakel in Tilburg, as an ode to the Berg composer.
The meditative work is known for its exciting performances, which are never the same. The concert is part of a special autumn tour of various churches in the Netherlands. Every performance of Canto Ostinato is different; the musicians - on two grand pianos - can play and repeat the more than 200 different sections and variations at will. 'We are inspired by the moment, the atmosphere and the audience,' says Lestari Scholtes, 'which makes every concert a unique experience.'
The concert lasts about 75 minutes and afterwards there will be an opportunity for coffee, tea or drinks. It is possible to listen actively, or just dream away, alone or together with friends and family.
