Reading 'Across the border'
In the lecture 'Across the border', Ellen and Leo Eumelen will take you along on their foot journey from Tilburg to Santiago de Compostela, which they made in 2018. A pilgrimage of 155 days of walking, during which they covered 3,232 km. By walking you leave behind the ordinary world of work, the chronic pressure of time and obligations, of speed and haste. You are liberated from all kinds of habits and conventions, you are available for your surroundings and yourself. Supported by many beautiful photos, they tell their personal story about unexpected encounters, special moments and increasing their ability to adapt to constantly changing circumstances.
And... How has this journey influenced their lives after the camino? You can register for this lecture, on 25 November from 19.30 to 21.00 hrs in the Bibliotheek LocHal, by sending an email to desireevanbeurden@bibliotheekmb.nl.

Workshop 'Practical approach to a pilgrimage'
In this interactive workshop, Ellen and Leo will take a closer look at the practical side of pilgrimage. You will get tools to answer questions such as: what is your motivation for a pilgrimage, how do you plan a date, how do you prepare (physically and practically), how do you pay for a pilgrimage, how do you deal with emergencies and more. You can register for this workshop on 28 November from 2.15 to 4.30 p.m. in the Bibliotheek Heyhoef by sending an e-mail to heyhoef@bibliotheekmb.nl.

These activities are part of the 'Nederland Leest' campaign.

Nederland Leest - Across the border
A good book starts a conversation and connects readers with each other. Therefore, in November, the whole of the Netherlands will read one book, De wandelaar van Adriaan van Dis, dat zich afspeelt in Parijs. Readers receive this book as a gift from the library, the centre for meeting and talking. For many people, the past year was a period in which life mainly took place between four walls. Partly to show that travelling does not always have to be physical, the theme of Nederland Leest 2021 is: Across the border.
