Freight train from Changsha to Tilburg
Update 7-9: This morning the test train arrived in Tilburg.
On August 16th a test train left from Changsha in China to Tilburg, led by GVT and Hunan Xiangou Express Co. If the test turns out to be successful, Tilburg will receive a weekly train from Changsha from now on.
The company Hunan Xiangou Express Co in Changsha in the Hunan province is the initiator of the test train and already has a connection with Duisburg in Germany.
Weekly service
If the train rails prove to be successful, Tilburg will now receive a train from Changsha every Thursday. The train follows a northern route via Manzhouli to Russia and not via Alashankou, through which the Chengdu - Tilburg freight train runs. The total route is 12,912 kilometres long.
GVT and partner CDIRS have already started in 2016 with freight trains between Tilburg and Chengdu. This direct journey is 11,000 kilometres long and offers operators a stable transit time and frequency. The journey takes fifteen days and the train has a capacity of 41 containers.
Larger capacity

Logistics top region
Changsha - Tilburg is the second train connection for freight transport between China and Tilburg. The Chengdu-Tilburg-Rotterdam connection was officially opened in September 2017. Alderman Erik de Ridder said about this earlier: "This train connection strengthens our position as a top logistics region. It provides a connection that facilitates export and import for the entrepreneurs in our top logistics region. The old Silk Road (OBOR) will be revived. And Tilburg is, as the first city in the Netherlands, a prominent part of it." With the possible arrival of the Changsha - Tilburg connection, our position as a top logistics region will only be strengthened.
