Official celebration start construction Plan-t

On 7 May, the start of the construction of Plan-t was festively announced with all those involved from the municipality of Tilburg, SDK Vastgoed, Van de Ven Bouw- en Ontwikkeling and the tenants of Plan-t. While enjoying a glass of prosecco and confettiregen, the tenants of Plan-t hit the first ceremonial pole.

VolkerWessels has been involved in the (re)development of the Spoorzone since 2012.
SDK Vastgoed on behalf of the Workshop Development Company as delegated area developer.
"We are proud that this icon is being realised in the heart of the Spoorzone. The specific composition of these tenants creates a community in which they reinforce each other. A unique office concept that gives Tilburg's entrepreneurs and parties outside this city the space to innovate and develop and strengthens the urban economy.... A supplement for the city", says Dennis van de Ven, director of SDK vastgoed.

Berend de Vries (Alderman for Economics and Railways) emphasized the importance of Plan-t within the entire Spoorzone: "Plan-t completes the LocHal and MindLabs. The focus on parties active in data technology is promising and a good addition to what is already under development. It fits in with the development of an innovative knowledge district in Tilburg's Spoorzone. VolkerWessels and all those involved show their guts by starting with the realization of this unique building in the Spoorzone and settle here!"

Afterwards, we had a nice chat while enjoying a drink and this successful afternoon was concluded. The delivery of Plan-t is expected in September 2020.

About Plan-t

Plan-t, a development by VolkerWessels company SDK Vastgoed, will be the hotspot for enterprising Tilburg in the heart of the Spoorzone. The special building, named after a train set from the 1960s that appeals to the imagination, has seven floors and offers a total of almost 11,000 square metres of office space.

In addition to an inspiring working environment, the building offers many communal facilities such as the underground car park, central reception, high-quality catering facilities, a 'chill room' and various meeting and presentation rooms.

The Plan-t building will be all-electric with a focus on sustainability through the use of heat and cold storage, solar panels, LED lighting and climate ceilings.

About the railway zone Tilburg

The Spoorzone is for everyone: for the inhabitants of Tilburg who want to live pleasantly and modernly in a place where there is always something to do, with public transport within walking distance. An area for entrepreneurs, from start-up to scale-up and beyond, who are looking for new accommodation, and where there is room to work on new concepts of services and products.

At the site that was once the workplace of the Dutch Railways, a completely new part of the city is currently being created. Since the fences around the former NS site were removed in 2010, the municipality of Tilburg, together with its partner VolkerWessels and other companies, has transformed this area into a lively residential, working and recreation area with a strong link to the knowledge economy. In total, this area will eventually be realised:
approx. 2,000 homes
approx. 50,000 sq.m. work | business and commercial services
approx. 25,000 sq.m. knowledge | culture | social programme
approx. 15,000 m² leisure time | entertainment
