Record number of containers on Brabant water

Never before have more containers been transported and transshipped over the waters of Brabant than in 2018. In that year, more than a million teu (about 650,000 containers) were handled at the container terminals in Brabant. That is an increase of more than 25 percent compared to 2017. Growth was particularly evident at the Container Terminals in Tilburg and Den Bosch, followed by those in Waalwijk, Oss and Veghel.

This is evident from the figures collected by the Multimodal Coordination and Advice Centre (MCA Brabant).  According to MCA Brabant, the growth is spread over all Brabant terminals in Tilburg, Oss, Veghel, Den Bosch, Waalwijk, Bergen op Zoom, Oosterhout and Moerdijk.

In many cases, the containers originate from the Far East - especially China - and mostly contain electronics (Samsung, Philips). But many containers also contain car parts (Tesla), beer (Heineken), clothing and foodstuffs (Lidl).
