This fall at De Pont: Thomas schütte and Stan Douglas

Starting September 16, De Pont museum presents two core artists with brand new work! Thomas Schütte shows his architectural models from the legendary Westkunst exhibition and Stan Douglas combines color photographs about cultural resistance.

In the main hall, Thomas Schütte realizes his three architectural models from the legendary Westkunst exhibition (1981) for the first time at full size. This fall, De Pont is showing Museum Schiff, Bühne and Kiste, by this core artist in the collection in the main hall of the former wool spinning mill, inviting visitors to climb stairs, stand on stage or, on the contrary, isolate themselves. Over the past four decades, Schütte has amassed one of the most prominent yet elusive bodies of work in contemporary art.

In the new wing, Stan Douglas combines a highly topical group of color photographs about cultural resistance with an overwhelming musical video installation. Douglas shows how the past continues to resonate in the present while blurring the line between fiction and reality.
