Tilburg-based Sandra Pham in race for Young Impact Award

Tilburg-based creator Sandra Pham (23) has a chance to win a Young Impact Award in the Diversity category! In her first solo theater performance 'Binnenvetter', she talks about her Vietnamese-Dutch background, anti-Asian racism and what it's like to put yourself away, lose and reinvent yourself. She tells this story through spoken word, music and theater.

In her performance, several themes are addressed; such as growing up between two cultures, experiencing racism, bullying, love and following your dreams. With her performance, she hopes to be an example for other Asian-Dutch youth, as she herself experienced a lack of representation in this area.

Tilburg

In Tilburg, Sandra finds the cultural environment to be able to develop herself and tell her story: "I experience the cultural scene in Tilburg as a place where a lot is possible. I am convinced that there are many accessible places where you can undertake something or develop yourself. As a creator, I have had many opportunities here. I was able to perform at The Stage in De Nieuwe Vorst, the OnTrack Festival in the Hall of Fame and the Koepelhal and the Cape Town Festival. I experience Tilburg as a small, creative bubble where you always meet familiar faces, and that you also see each other grow in that respect!"
